Angela Holmquist, MA, LICSW

Outpatient Therapist

Individual Therapy Ages 22+

I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) with a Master of Social Work degree from Boston University. I value authenticity, empathy, humor, and open-mindedness, which are core to my work as a therapist. I have over 20+ years of experience in the mental health field and have had the privilege of walking alongside adults on their journey of self-improvement, supporting them as they navigate life's challenges.

In session, I create an informal (authentic language is okay!), inclusive, collaborative, and warm environment in order to foster personal growth. Lasting change can come from self-awareness, strengthening resilience, and a healthy support system. I believe that one size doesn’t fit all and prefer to use a variety of evidence-based modalities, organically adapted to suit each individual’s needs, including: narrative therapy, person-centered, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and a strength-based approach. I find joy in holding space with others to feel heard, understood, and empowered to uncover patterns, develop coping skills, and build self-awareness.

My clinical interests include depression, anxiety, trauma, neurodivergence, life transitions, professionals in the community, challenging perfectionism, divorce, complex family systems/relationships, career stress, boundaries, adoption, unhelpful cognitions, personal growth, and chronic medical conditions.

Outside of my professional role, I enjoy spending time with my family/fur babies, doing crafts, playing video games, and attending festivals. I am licensed in child foster care in my community, and I adore my adopted daughter.

“What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, more unashamed conversation.” ~Glenn Close
